Employee Application Submission

Read all information below before submitting an application.
What to Expect Working at CAT5 Builders
While "Builders" is in our name we are a predominantly manufacturing business. We take our two raw materials, coiled steel & magnesium oxide board, and fabricate light gauge steel wall panels, roof trusses, floor trusses and any other components required in the building process. This all takes place within our shop so we can fabricate rain or shine. That being said, certain projects will require our crews to be flexible as they may need to erect structures within the field assisted by heavy equipment. You can expect your work time to be split between the shop and field depending on the projects currently in progress.
Requirements for Employment
  • Ability to be on your feet for most of the day. Unassisted by cane, crutches, or other mobility assistance.
  • Reading and speaking English.
  • Reliable transportation to and from our shop. (Transportation to and from job sites will be provided)
  • Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Corrected vision.
  • Work clothing, thick pants, long sleeve shirts, and closed toe shoes (steel toes preferred).
  • Ability to work safely and recognize safety hazards.
  • Ability to be sober throughout the working day, (no alcohol use, no marijuana use, or other mind altering drug use). Medication on case by case basis.
The CAT5 Builders Interview process involves three parts.
  • The first part is a panel test where we will provide you with tools, safety equipment, and a sample panel with the plans required for assembly. You will be given 30 minutes to assemble the panel or until you give up. (Note: This is for us to see how well you can read and understand plans, failure to assemble complete this panel is NOT an automatic failure). Wear work clothes that include long pants and closed toed shoes during this part of the interview.
  • The second part of the interview is the tape measure and fractions test with 30 minutes to answer 20 questions. Working at CAT5 Builders requires measuring and cutting and you will need to know how to read a tape measure down to 1/16th of an inch as well as adding and subtracting measurements. Knowing how to read a tape measure is required for employment, adding and subtracting fractions is a skill that will be required to be learned during employment.
  • The last part of the interview involves an in-person interview with one of the office staff members. It can range from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on you and your skills. An offer may be given directly following the interview or delayed several days and given via a phone call.
